What is Château Margaux?

Château Margaux is a Left Bank estate farming approximately 82 hectares of vines, producing a Cabernet Sauvignon–based Grand Vin, alongside its second wine, a white wine, and a third red wine.

Of the vineyards, around 70 hectares are planted with red varieties and 12 with white. From these areas, the estate bottles the limited-production Grand Vin Château Margaux, its second wine Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux, made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc. The estate also bottles a third red wine, Margaux du Château Margaux. Having a grand vin and a second wine follows classic Médoc practice, while the estate’s white is an exception in Margaux; all reflect careful site selection and blending.

These wines define Château Margaux’s role as a Left Bank producer, offering a clear view of Cabernet Sauvignon–led Bordeaux and a focused expression of Sauvignon Blanc from the same estate.
