ABOUT THIS WINE:

Treaty 42 Cellars

Treaty 42 Cellars

Verdejo

The first wine we featured from Treaty 42 Cellars was a club favorite. Their Monastrell (what the French call Mourvedre) is a powerful wine that is perfectly balanced between dark fruits and a firm structure. They are masters of balance, and they’ve done it again with this incredible Verdejo. Light bodied but with bright acidity and firm minerality, this is a wine that shines with food. The fruity notes of pear, cantaloupe, and guava play off of a pronounced umami character and make it easy to pair with savory dishes. We have loved it with pork tenderloin, fish tacos, and even vegetarian stir-fry. Judges love it too! It took home Gold from the 2019 Hilton Head Island Wine and Food International Wine Competition!

WINE REGION:

Outline of Spain

Spain

While its reputation as a serious wine destination was eclipsed by France and Italy for many years, ignoring Spain today means missing out on some of the world's most exciting wines. Enjoying hundreds of miles of sun-kissed coastline and rocky interiors at higher elevations, Spain provides an ideal location for vineyards. Whether it is sparkling cavas from Catalonia, crisp Verdejos from Rueda, sublime Tempranillos from Ribera del Duero or inky Monastrells from Valencia, Spain has many wine styles to explore, all expressing the country's wildly unique terroir.

TASTING NOTES:

Tropical Fruit

Mineral

Pear

This is a lovely food varietal. The tropical note of guava plays off of a pronounce umami characteristic. This is balanced out by notes of pear and cantaloupe that leave you with a balanced wine perfect for pairing with food. The bright acidity and firm minerality are best supported by lighter meats and vegetables.

Treaty 42 Cellars

Inspired by its explorations along the 42nd parallel, Treaty 42 Cellars speaks to Spain's passion for discovery. Throughout history, Spanish explorers set sail, determined to bring the glory of their nation to new lands. Though many of their conquests did not stand the test of time, there is beauty in their spirit and unwavering commitment to culture and country. Our wines are a testament to both the bounty of the Spanish landscape and the formidable desire to share the essence of Spain.
