ABOUT THIS WINE:

Rooted Bench
Pinot Noir
Elegant and quietly expressive, Rooted Bench is shaped by the cool Pacific breezes and sandy benchland soils of Santa Maria Valley. This coastal terroir, with its long, slow-growing season, allows the fruit to ripen at its own pace, preserving the lifted aromatics and delicate structure that define the wine. In the glass, harmonious tones of black cherry and wild bramble unfold with grace, accented by soft toasty hints and a whisper of spice that lingers like a well-kept secret. Crafted with care and a deep respect for the land, this 2023 Pinot Noir reflects the thoughtful winemaking that lets nature lead the way. WINE REGION:

Santa Maria Valley
One hundred forty miles northwest of Los Angeles, the Santa Maria Valley is one of California's finest wine regions. Sun-baked and dry, yet river-fed and cooled by Pacific Ocean airflow, the wide east-west valley produces some of North America's most impeccably balanced Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With its long growing season, grapes ripen slowly here, developing layers of flavor and fragrance. Moving inland, the extra warmth allows Bordeaux, Rhône, and Piedmont grape varieties to ripen entirely, producing richly seductive wines. Santa Maria Valley is California's second-oldest AVA, straddling both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
