Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, Italy
A Sicilian wine that combines tradition and innovation
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Planeta
Red Blend
An intriguing wine with an extraordinary vital energy based on wild fruits, wild strawberries, mulberry, and pomegranate From the countryside of Dorilli, between the sea and the Iblean mountains, known as the center of excellence for Sicilian food, comes this Cerasuolo di Vittoria. The name of the only DOCG in Sicily comes from ‘Cerasa,’ cherry in Sicilian dialect. It is produced from the indigenous varieties Nero d’Avola and Frappato. A unique wine, recognizable and unforgettable for its youthful flavors and aromas of cherry, strawberry, and pomegranate, due to the particular soil and climate in which the grapes are cultivated. A wine which, like few others, combines tradition and delicious wine.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG
Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the only DOCG wine made on the Italian island of Sicily. Produced around Vittoria between the southern coast and the Hyblaean Mountains (home of the famous Monti Iblei olives), it blends two of the island's indigenous grapes: Nero d'Avola and Frappato. Cerasuolo means "cherry-like," a word that sums up this wine perfectly. The dense mulberry-fruit richness of Nero d'Avola is balanced by Frappato's fragrant freshness, creating a wine with mouthwatering notes of cherry, strawberry and pomegranate. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily is a paradise for growing grapes, with its hot days, cool coastal nights and ancient soils creating wonderfully ripe fruit. The DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) classification is the top tier for Italian wine classifications. It controls production methods and wine quality. Strict rules oversee the production of DOCG designated wines, including allowed varietals, winemaking procedures, barrel and bottle aging methods, grape ripeness and limits on grape yields during harvest. DOCG wines are also required to be officially tasted. DOCG bottles have numbered government seals across the neck of the bottle to prevent forgery.

TASTING NOTES:
Pomegranate
Strawberry
Cherry
An extremely gastronomic version of Cerasuolo which we like very much for its meaty peppery notes. In the mouth, the wine reflects its olfactory impressions and thus we happily re-encounter the black pepper mixed with carob and sweet cherries. Quick on the palate with a very savory rounded finish with hints of mulberry.
