Pinot Noir

Anderson Valley has earned acclaim as one of the world's greatest regions for Pinot Noir. Crafted predominantly from estate vineyards and shaped by the influence of the wind, water, and fog, this wine embodies both the elegance of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir and its deep, rustic beauty. 2017 began with plentiful rains that resulted in healthy vines and an excellent crop. After ideal weather throughout the summer, a significant September heat spell ushered in a brisk start to harvest. The grapes arrived at the winery in exceptional condition, resulting in complex wines that embody the rustic elegance of great Anderson Valley winemaking.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to AL, AZ, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, ME, MI, MO, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SD, TX, VT, WA.

Anderson Valley

Anderson Valley is 100 miles north of San Francisco nestled in Mendocino County. Only 15 miles long, the appellation is home to some of the most beautiful wines coming out of northern California. The region experiences a unique weather pattern, with some sunny days reaching nearly 100 degrees but also some days experiencing heavy fog and cooler temperatures thanks to the influences of the nearby Pacific Ocean. Most well known are the Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, and Alsace varietals like Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Goldeneye

Goldeneye Winery was founded in 1996, years before the Pinot Noir boom that has reshaped the landscape of California winemaking. But the genesis for Goldeneye goes back even further. In 1990, after fifteen years of making world-class Bordeaux varietal wines, Dan and Margaret Duckhorn embraced their growing love of Pinot Noir. Their vision for Goldeneye was simple, though not easy. They wanted to found a winery that could make a terroir-inspired expression of California Pinot Noir of equal stature to the acclaimed Merlots they had pioneered at Duckhorn Vineyards in Napa Valley. For Pinot Noir, the Duckhorn's believed that true greatness would be found on the cool-climate edges of modern California viticulture and found what they were looking for in the Anderson Valley.
