Chanmé Méchant
Pays d'Oc IGP, France
Savor the complex textures of the 92 Point "Best Grenache Blanc" Chanmé Méchant
ABOUT THIS WINE:
Chanmé Méchant
Grenache Blanc
A wine with soul can be hard to find. When you have a wine with great texture it shows that the winemaker knew a thing or two about how to use the grapes. This Grenache Blanc is textured in a way that is very clearly influenced by the winemaking process. The full-bodied wine has a light oily mouthfeel that accentuates the gorgeous notes of white flowers and cream as well as the peach and nectarine. We love it with fried calamari, lobster bisque, and even a New England style clam chowder. And judges love it too! It won "Best Grenache Blanc," 92 Points, and a Gold medal from the 2019 Sommelier Challenge.

WINE REGION:
Pays d'Oc IGP
If you've vacationed in the south of France, you've probably visited the Pays d'Oc region. Embracing the Mediterranean from Spain to Provence, this region is famed as much for its Grenache, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as its endless sunshine. Pays d'Oc covers non-AOC wines made across this large, sun-kissed region, known as France's "New World." Far from the regulations of the AOC system, pioneering winemakers headed here to experiment, crafting many now-famous wines that often state their grape variety on the label—not something that was common in France before then. IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

TASTING NOTES:
Peach
Apricot
White Flowers
We love a full-bodied wine that has something interesting going on, and in this case it is a light oily mouthfeel that accentuates the gorgeous notes of white flowers and cream as well as the peach and nectarine. We love it with seafood.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Chanmé Méchant
The French take their food and wine very seriously, but that does not mean they don't enjoy a bit of fun. Chanmé Méchant is a playful French "verlan"—a word that flips its sound to create a phrase that captures opposites. Chanmé, meaning enjoyable, and Méchant, meaning wicked, come together to form a fitting name for these informal French wines, which are, in fact, "Wicked Good."
