What is Château Latour?
Château Latour is a wine estate focused on L’Enclos, a 47-hectare walled vineyard that is part of the 92-hectare estate (with 78 hectares under vine).
The main Grand Vin comes mostly from L’Enclos, while Les Forts de Latour includes grapes from young vines within L’Enclos and declassified lots originally intended for the Grand Vin, as well as from parcels outside the walled vineyard; Pauillac de Château Latour can likewise include declassified or surplus fruit from across the estate, both inside L’Enclos and from other parcels.
Vineyards are mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), along with Merlot (22%), and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (2%) for structure and finesse.
Grapes are hand-sorted and fermented in temperature-controlled vats, and the Grand Vin ages for about 18 months in new French oak. Bottles have unique traceability seals and are wrapped by hand at the estate.
Farming uses sustainable methods, including organic and biodynamic practices, with no chemical herbicides and traditional horse plowing in L’Enclos to protect soils and biodiversity.
