Tokaj Furmint

The Bodrog Bormuhely Narancsbor, crafted from the Furmint varietal, is a remarkable example of the enchanting wines hailing from the Tokaj region in Hungary. This wine, though white in color, is a stunning expression of the orange wine style, exhibiting a delightful amber hue in the glass. The nose is greeted with an inviting bouquet of orange peel, dried apricots, and honey, underpinned by a gentle nuttiness that adds complexity. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, offering a lively acidity that lifts the rich flavors of ripe stonefruit and a hint of spice. The wine finishes on a bright, mouthwatering note, leaving a long-lasting impression. Renowned for its traditional winemaking techniques, the Tokaj region has produced yet another exquisite example that proudly earns its place among award-winning wines. This handcrafted Furmint is a food-friendly option, perfect for pairing with a variety of dishes ranging from savory cheeses to grilled seafood.

Home to the lusciously sweet and long-aging Tokaji Aszú dessert wine, the Tokaj region is becoming equally well known today for its high-quality dry whites. Located in northeastern Hungary, hilly Tokaj has a warm climate with volcanic-clay soils, and sits at the confluence of two rivers. While the soils of Tokaj allow winemakers to craft mineral-rich dry whites from the Furmint grape, with its two rivers and long, balmy autumns, Tokaj vineyards also have the ability to develop botrytis, or "noble rot." This unique fungus is the key to great sweet wines, as it concentrates sugars and brings about a sublime honeyed character.
