What is Opus One?

Opus One is both a winery and its namesake wine, characterized by an annual blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon from estate vineyards in Oakville. The blend often includes Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and sometimes Malbec. The grapes are grown on the estate and the wine undergoes extended aging in French oak, adding structure and complexity.

In addition to the main wine, the winery produces Overture, which was introduced in 1993. Overture is a non-vintage blend made from lots not used in Opus One, combining multiple harvests and using less new French oak for a more approachable style.
