White Zinfandel

2006 Puglia Zinfandel

The Via Di Roma White Zinfandel is a charming expression of the Zinfandel varietal, hailing from the sun-kissed region of Puglia. This delightful 2006 vintage showcases a distinctive light-bodied profile, making it a versatile choice for various occasions. With a mild acidity that refreshes yet does not overwhelm, this wine presents a medium fruit intensity where subtle notes of ripe strawberries and watermelon blend harmoniously. The tannins are soft, offering a gentle structure that is complemented by a refreshing dryness, making it an inviting option for those seeking a pleasant sip. Its approachable character makes it ideal for warm afternoons or as a refreshing companion to a light meal.

Region:

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
