Villa Mottura

2011 Salento Negroamaro

The Mottura Villa Mottura, a splendid expression of the Negroamaro varietal, showcases the rich and vibrant character of the Salento region. This red wine presents a full-bodied profile, featuring a delightful acidity that adds a refreshing touch while harmonizing beautifully with the underlying flavors. The fruit intensity is prominent, with lush notes of dark berries and hints of spices that create an inviting aroma. The tannins are firm yet approachable, providing structure without overwhelming the palate. As a dry wine, it offers a clean finish that further emphasizes its complexity, making it an excellent choice to complement hearty dishes or savor on its own. The 2011 vintage exemplifies the craftsmanship of the winemaker, capturing the essence of its terroir in every sip.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
