Turris

2006 Puglia Primitivo

Cantine De La Manna Turris, a remarkable 2006 Primitivo from the sun-kissed region of Puglia, offers an inviting deep red hue that hints at its rich character. This medium-bodied wine showcases a harmonious balance of luscious fruit flavors, primarily black cherry and ripe plum, beautifully enveloped in subtle spice notes. Its acidity brings a refreshing brightness that complements the wine’s overall structure, making it an excellent choice for various dining occasions. The tannins are notable yet refined, providing a firm backbone without overwhelming the palate. With its pleasing dryness, this Primitivo is finely crafted for a delightful experience, whether enjoyed on its own or paired with hearty Italian dishes.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
