Torrevento 1913

Puglia Primitivo

Torrevento Torrevento 1913 is an enchanting Primitivo from the sun-drenched region of Puglia, Italy. This red wine showcases a rich and full-bodied character that invites you to explore its depths. With a bright acidity that dances on the palate, it offers a refreshing contrast to the overarching fruit intensity, where notes of ripe blackberries and plums take center stage. The tannins are notably firm, providing structure and a pleasing backbone to the wine, while the delightful dry finish keeps you coming back for more. This wine is a true reflection of its origin, making it a wonderful companion for hearty Italian dishes or a cozy evening by the fireplace.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
