The Grape Thief

Puglia Aglianico

The Ladro D'uva The Grape Thief wine showcases a deep crimson red hue that hints at the rich flavors within. Crafted from the indigenous Aglianico grape variety in the sun-soaked region of Puglia, this wine embodies the spirit of Southern Italy. It envelops the palate with a full body, well-suited for those who appreciate wines with a robust character. The acidity in this wine is moderate, adding a pleasant brightness to the overall profile. The fruit intensity is prominent, offering a delightful explosion of dark fruit flavors with a subtle hint of earthiness. The tannins are notable, providing a structured backbone to the wine, while the dryness level is balanced, making it a versatile choice for various occasions.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
