The Estates

2008 Wahluke Slope Grenache

Milbrandt Vineyards The Estates 2008 Grenache from the Wahluke Slope is a stunning example of this varietal, showcasing a beautifully vibrant red color that is both inviting and captivating. The wine presents a medium body, offering a well-balanced mouthfeel that is both approachable and satisfying. Its acidity is high, bringing a bright and lively freshness to the palate, making it ideal for food pairings. The tannins are notable yet smooth, providing structure without overwhelming the fruit. Speaking of fruit, the intensity is pronounced, featuring lush flavors of ripe strawberries and raspberries, complemented by hints of spice and earthiness. This wine is decidedly dry, exhibiting no residual sweetness and culminating in a memorable finish that speaks to the quality of the terroir from which it hails. Enjoying this Grenache is a delightful experience, reflecting the craftsmanship of the Milbrandt team and the unique characteristics of the Wahluke Slope region.

Region:

Washington
Washington

With 18 recognized AVAs, Washington is the second-largest wine-producing state in the United States. Most of these AVAs are located in the east, centered around the valleys of Walla Walla, the Columbia River and Yakima. The grape varieties that thrive here are numerous: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris all continue to make increasingly compelling wines. Washington wines thrive in dry, semi-arid conditions far from the Pacific Ocean and are protected from the Pacific Northwest rain shadow by the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. Washington owes its unique terroir to the historic Missoula Floods, which swept through the region 10,000 years ago, stripping away the earth and replacing it with sandy soils from modern-day Utah, Idaho and Montana.
