Tacco Barocco

2004 Salento Negroamaro

The Cantina Sociale Sampietrana Tacco Barocco 2004 is a captivating red wine that hails from the picturesque Salento region of Italy, where the sun-drenched vineyards produce grapes of remarkable character. This Negroamaro varietal showcases a full-bodied nature, enveloping the palate with its depth and intensity. The wine possesses a bright acidity that not only balances its richness but also enhances its vibrant fruit profile, with notes of dark cherry, plum, and subtle hints of dried herbs. The tannins are notably structured, providing a firm backbone that supports its lingering finish. As a dry wine, it exudes a sophisticated elegance, making it a delightful companion to hearty dishes or a moment of indulgent solitude.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
