Single Vineyard

2006 Maule Valley Carignan

The De Martino Single Vineyard Carignan from the 2006 vintage is an exquisite representation of the Maule Valley, showcasing the region's unique terroir. This full-bodied red wine captivates with its rich, ruby hue that hints at its depth and complexity. On the palate, it possesses high acidity, delivering a refreshing lift while counterbalancing the pronounced fruit intensity that features dark cherries and blackcurrants. The tannins are notably structured, providing a firm backbone that enhances the wine's aging potential. With its beautifully integrated flavors, the De Martino Carignan is a dry yet luscious wine, making it an exceptional choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoying on its own. This wine truly embodies the essence of its location, reflecting the craftsmanship of the De Martino family.

Region:

Valle Central
Valle Central

The expansive, warm flatlands of Chile's Valle Central are home to most of the country's vineyards. This long stretch of land from Santiago to Itata Valley is divided into four sub-regions, each with its own climate and reputation. There is Maipo Valley with its minty Cabernet Sauvignon, Rapel Valley with its spicy Carménère and the Curicó and Maule Valleys, famous for concentrated Carignan made from old vines. Throughout the valley—which is prized for its rich, volcanic soils—the hot days and cool nights result in ripe, well-balanced grapes. Some of the most common Valle Central wines are fruit-forward reds made from plummy Merlot and pear-flavored whites crafted from Chardonnay.
