Saracena

Salento Primitivo

Masseria Borgo Dei Trulli Saracena is a captivating red wine hailing from the picturesque Salento region, where the sun-drenched vineyards produce grapes with extraordinary character. This Primitivo showcases a medium-bodied profile, wrapping the palate in a delightful embrace of ripe dark fruit flavors, such as black cherry and plum. The wine's refreshing acidity adds liveliness, balancing the fruit-forward richness beautifully. Tannins are notably soft, offering a smooth texture that makes it incredibly approachable, while maintaining a touch of structure. With its dry finish, this wine is a splendid choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoying on its own, inviting you to savor the essence of Southern Italy in every sip.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
