Santimedici

2007 Salento Negroamaro 100%

Castel Di Salve Santimedici is a captivating red wine crafted from 100% Negroamaro grapes, showcasing the rich terroir of the Salento region. This vintage, dating back to 2007, features a deep garnet hue, hinting at its maturity and depth. The wine exhibits a full-bodied character, complemented by a medium acidity that provides balance and vibrancy. On the palate, expect pronounced fruit intensity, with flavors of dark fruit and subtle spice that envelop the senses. Tannins are firm yet well-integrated, adding structure while allowing the wine’s complexity to shine. The dry finish further enhances its drinkability, making it a delightful companion to hearty dishes and savory fare.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
