Salice Salentino

2014 Salice Salentino Negroamaro

La Casada Salice Salentino, a splendid example of Negroamaro from the esteemed Salice Salentino region, offers an inviting deep red hue that captures the eye. The 2014 vintage is characterized by its medium-full-bodied profile, presenting a delightful balance of vibrant acidity and rich fruit intensity. On the palate, expect layers of dark cherry and plum, intertwined with hints of spice and earthy undertones, making each sip a journey through its complex character. The tannins are well-integrated, contributing a subtle firmness that enhances the wine’s structure without overwhelming its charming personality. With its dry finish, La Casada Salice Salentino is a wonderful companion to hearty dishes, inviting you to savor the harmonious interplay of flavors that make this wine truly exceptional.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
