Salento Rosso

2010 Salento Negroamaro

Negro Salento Rosso, crafted from the esteemed Negroamaro varietal, showcases the rich and vibrant character of the Salento region. This full-bodied red wine captivates with its deep ruby color, inviting aromas of ripe dark fruits, intertwined with hints of spice and earthy undertones. The acidity presents itself beautifully, providing a lively backbone that enhances the wine's overall balance. The tannins are notably structured, contributing to the wine’s impressive aging potential while gracefully framing its fruit intensity. This vintage from 2010 is thoughtfully dry, making it an excellent companion to hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own. Whether you're a connoisseur or simply exploring the pleasures of Italian wines, Negro Salento Rosso embodies the passion and tradition of its origin.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
