Rosso

2007 Puglia Montepulciano

Cantine De La Manna Rosso, from the renowned Puglia region, is a stunning expression of the Montepulciano varietal that boasts a vibrant red hue. This vintage, dating back to 2007, delivers an enchanting aroma of dark cherries and ripe plums, intertwined with hints of spice and earthiness that evoke the sun-soaked vineyards of Italy. On the palate, the wine presents a well-structured body with balanced acidity that keeps it lively and refreshing. The tannins are notably firm yet polished, providing a solid backbone that supports the fruit intensity, which shines prominently throughout the tasting experience. With its dry character and satisfying finish, this wine invites you to savor each sip, making it perfect for pairing with hearty Italian dishes or simply enjoyed on its own.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
