Rosso

2004 Salento Negroamaro

The Cantina Sociale Sampietrana Rosso is a delightful expression of Negroamaro from the esteemed Salento region, crafted from the 2004 vintage. This red wine exhibits a deep ruby color, reflecting its rich and inviting character. On the palate, it reveals a medium-bodied structure complemented by a moderate acidity, which adds a pleasant brightness to the overall experience. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing luscious dark fruit flavors intertwined with hints of spice and earthiness that are characteristic of this varietal. The tannins are well-integrated and offer a soft, smooth texture that enhances the wine's approachability. This captivating Rosso is also dry, making it an exceptional choice for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoying on its own. With its balanced profile and complex flavors, this wine truly embodies the essence of Salento’s viticulture.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
