Rosa del Golfo

2005 Salento Negroamaro

Rosa Del Golfo Rosa del Golfo, a delightful 2005 vintage from the Salento region, showcases the unique characteristics of the Negroamaro varietal. This red wine presents a medium-bodied profile that is both inviting and approachable. Its acidity is well-balanced, enhancing the overall freshness, while the fruit intensity is prominent, with luscious flavors of ripe cherry and dark berry coming to the forefront. The tannins are soft and integrated, providing a silky texture that lingers pleasantly on the palate. Notably, this wine is dry, making it an excellent companion for a variety of dishes, especially those featuring rich tomato sauces or grilled meats.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
