Riserva Rosso

2009 Salice Salentino Negroamaro

The Cosimo Taurino Riserva Rosso is a splendid expression of the Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the picturesque Salice Salentino region. This vintage, 2009, boasts an enticing deep ruby hue that captivates the eye. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic profile rich in dark fruit notes, complemented by hints of spice and earthiness, showcasing the wine's complexity. The palate offers a full-bodied experience, where the flavors of ripe black cherries and blackcurrants dance harmoniously with soft, well-integrated tannins, providing a velvety mouthfeel. The vibrant acidity adds brightness and refreshment, ensuring a balanced finish that lingers delightfully. This wine is distinctively dry, making it an ideal companion for hearty dishes and flavorful cheeses, embodying the essence of its terroir with every sip.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
