2005 Livermore Valley Barbera

The Ruby Hill Winery Reserve, a 2005 Barbera from the picturesque Livermore Valley, showcases a vibrant red hue that captures the eye. This wine is medium-bodied, offering a delightful balance that makes it incredibly approachable. With a medium acidity, it presents a refreshing quality that dances on the palate, perfectly complementing its fruit intensity, which is prominent and filled with luscious black cherry and raspberry notes. The tannins are notably firm yet smooth, adding structure and depth without overpowering the fruit-forward character. This Barbera is dry, making it an excellent choice for pairing with a variety of dishes, enhancing any dining experience while reflecting the rich terroir of Livermore Valley.

Region:

Central Coast
Central Coast

California's Central Coast might be a bit quieter than Napa or Sonoma to the north, but this lesser-known region produces many world-class wines. Enjoying incredible terroir along its vast 280-mile stretch—from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara—Central Coast wines are increasingly in demand. Its position between the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Southern Coast Ranges is key to its quality, with many cool-climate AVAs offering elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. In the hotter parts of the Central Coast, away from the coastal fogs and cold mountain slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are exceptional.
