Reserva

2010 Salice Salentino Negroamaro 80%, Malvasia Nera 20%

Il Tauro Reserva from the Salice Salentino region is a captivating red wine crafted from a harmonious blend of eighty percent Negroamaro and twenty percent Malvasia Nera, showcasing the best of Apulian viticulture. This vintage presents a rich and full-bodied experience, reflecting the wine's depth and complexity, while its acidity is both balanced and refreshing, creating a delightful liveliness on the palate. The fruit intensity is pronounced, with layers of dark cherry, plum, and hints of dried figs that intertwine beautifully with hints of spice and earthy undertones. Tannins are notably firm, offering structure and age-worthy potential, making this wine a true pleasure to enjoy now or to cellar for further development. The dryness is elegantly present, enhancing the wine’s overall appeal and ensuring it pairs wonderfully with hearty dishes like grilled meats and rich pasta sauces.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
