Red Wine Negroamaro

2010 Puglia Negroamaro

The Antica Enotria Red Wine made from Negroamaro is a delightful expression of the Puglia region, showcasing the rich, sun-soaked landscapes of Southern Italy. This 2010 vintage presents a deep, ruby red color that hints at the intensity within. On the palate, it offers a full-bodied experience, beautifully balanced by a pronounced acidity that brings vibrancy to its structure. The fruit intensity is prominent, with luscious notes of dark cherry, plum, and hints of dried herbs, reflecting the character of the indigenous grape. The tannins are notably firm, contributing to its age-worthiness and the potential for further development in the bottle. As a dry wine, it achieves a harmonious blend that makes it incredibly food-friendly, perfect for pairing with hearty dishes or enjoyed on its own.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
