Prestigio

2008 Salento Chardonnay

The Giordano Prestigio Chardonnay from the 2008 vintage beautifully represents the coastal Salento region of Italy. This wine is medium-bodied, offering a delightful balance that invites exploration. Its acidity is pronounced, providing a bright and refreshing quality that enhances the enjoyment of each sip. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing luscious notes of ripe stone fruits and crisp citrus, which are further complemented by subtle hints of oak and vanilla from aging. The overall experience is dry, ensuring a clean finish that lingers on the palate. Ideal for pairing with seafood or creamy pasta dishes, this Chardonnay captures the essence of its warm Mediterranean origins while delivering a sophisticated tasting experience.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
