Pinot Blanc

2011 Burgenland Pinot Blanc

The Peter Schandl Pinot Blanc from the 2011 vintage is a delightful expression of this varietal hailing from the picturesque Burgenland region. This white wine presents a refreshing light body that dances gracefully on the palate. Its acidity is bright and mouthwatering, enhancing the overall experience and making it incredibly food-friendly. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing vibrant notes of apple, pear, and a hint of stone fruit that linger beautifully. While the tannins are quite subtle, they provide just enough structure to balance the wine's refreshing qualities. This Pinot Blanc is dry, offering a crisp finish that makes it an excellent companion for a variety of dishes or simply enjoyed on its own.

Austria may not be the first country that springs to mind when you think of quality wine, but this slice of central Europe is home to crisp whites and elegant reds that are well worth seeking out. While many classic grapes are grown here, there are exceptional wines made from varieties you rarely see anywhere else, such as white Grüner Veltliner. Spicy and herbaceous, this wine combines notes of white pepper and asparagus with flint and apple. As for reds, the most planted is Zweigelt. This grape is a hybrid of two other local varietals: the spicy Blaufränkisch and light St. Laurent. It combines the best of both worlds with flavors of chocolate, black pepper and fresh raspberry.
