Pezzo Morgana

2008 Salice Salentino Red Blend

The Liveli Pezzo Morgana, a captivating red blend from the Salice Salentino region, showcases a deep ruby hue that entices with its rich color. This 2008 vintage impresses with a full-bodied structure, where the balanced acidity adds a refreshing touch, making it thoroughly enjoyable. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing layers of dark berry flavors, complemented by subtle hints of spice that elevate the wine’s complexity. Tannins are well-integrated, providing a firm backbone that enhances the overall mouthfeel without overpowering the fruit. Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
