Passamante

2009 Salice Salentino Negroamaro

The Global Wine Co. Passamante is a captivating red wine made from the Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the renowned Salice Salentino region. This 2009 vintage showcases a beautiful deep ruby color, hinting at the rich flavors within. On the palate, it presents a medium-bodied experience with notable tannins that provide structure while remaining smooth and approachable. Acidity is bright and refreshing, enhancing the wine's complexity and complementing its prominent fruit intensity that bursts with dark cherry and plum notes, layered with subtle hints of earthiness and spice. The wine exhibits a dry profile, making it an excellent companion for a variety of dishes, particularly rich pasta and grilled meats. Overall, the Global Wine Co. Passamante is a delightful expression of its terroir, delivering both character and elegance.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
