Pàmpana

2008 Puglia Negroamaro

The Pampana Pàmpana is a delightful red wine hailing from the sun-kissed region of Puglia, crafted from the robust Negroamaro varietal. This vintage of 2008 showcases a full-bodied profile, offering a remarkable depth that is complemented by its high acidity, invigorating the palate with vibrant freshness. The fruit intensity is prominent, displaying ripe notes of black cherry and plum, alongside hints of earthiness and spice that add complexity to each sip. Tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing structure without overpowering the wine's exquisite flavor. With a dry character, this wine is an excellent choice for those seeking a rich and flavorful experience, embodying the essence of Puglia's winemaking tradition.

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
