Pàmpana

2007 Puglia Negroamaro

The Pampana Pàmpana is a distinctive red wine made from the exceptional Negroamaro grape, hailing from the sun-drenched region of Puglia. This 2007 vintage showcases a deep garnet hue, enticing the senses with its rich and complex aromas. Upon tasting, the wine reveals a full-bodied character, complemented by moderate acidity that brings a refreshing balance to the palate. Bursting with prominent notes of dark fruit such as black cherry and plum, it offers underlying hints of spices and earthy undertones, reflecting the terroir of its origin. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing structure without overwhelming, while its dry finish leaves a lingering impression. Overall, Pampana Pàmpana is a captivating choice for those seeking an authentic expression of Italian winemaking that exemplifies the unique qualities of Puglia.

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
