Otre

2009 Puglia Negroamaro

Teanum Otre is a captivating red wine that showcases the rich character of the Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the sun-drenched region of Puglia. This vintage is a testament to the unique terroir, where the warm Mediterranean climate lends an alluring complexity to the wine. On the palate, Teanum Otre reveals a full-bodied profile, balanced by pronounced acidity that invigorates the senses. The fruit intensity is prominent, offering layers of dark cherry and blackberry, perfectly complemented by subtle earthy undertones. The tannins are firm yet approachable, adding structure without overpowering the wine's lush fruit character. This well-crafted expression of Negroamaro is crafted to be dry, making it a delightful pairing with hearty dishes and an ideal choice for those who appreciate bold, flavorful reds.

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
