Old Vines

2009 Salento Negroamaro

La Corte Old Vines is a captivating red wine made from the Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the picturesque Salento region. This 2009 vintage showcases a medium-bodied profile that beautifully balances richness and elegance. The wine’s acidity is bright and lively, enhancing its refreshing qualities while supporting a delightful mouthfeel. With moderate fruit intensity, it reveals enticing aromas of dark berries and plums, complemented by subtle hints of earthy undertones and spice. The tannins are firm yet supple, providing structure without overwhelming the palate. A dry expression, this wine pairs effortlessly with robust dishes, making it a versatile addition to any culinary experience.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
