O'vese Sangiovese

2014 Puglia Sangiovese

O'vese O'vese Sangiovese from the Puglia region is a delightful expression of the Sangiovese varietal, showcasing a radiantly deep red color that captivates the eye. With a full-bodied character, this wine offers a satisfying richness on the palate, perfectly balanced by its lively acidity that refreshes the senses. The fruit intensity is prominent, delivering luscious notes of ripe cherries and plums, intertwined with subtle hints of leather and spice that are characteristic of the grape. Its tannins are notable yet smooth, providing structure without overwhelming the wine’s charming fruit profile. This medium-dry wine invites a pleasurable drinking experience, making it a fantastic choice for a variety of dishes or simply to enjoy on its own.

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
