Negroamaro Puglia

Puglia Negroamaro

The Pinataro Negroamaro from Puglia is a remarkable red wine that embodies the vibrant spirit of southern Italy's winemaking traditions. This medium-bodied wine showcases a bright acidity that adds a refreshing lift to its luscious profile. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing a delightful medley of dark cherries and ripe plums, complemented by subtle undertones of baking spices. Tannins are well-structured, providing a smooth, inviting mouthfeel without overpowering the wine's fruity character. The wine is decidedly dry, making it a fantastic companion for a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to hearty pasta. Each sip transports you to the sun-drenched vineyards of Puglia, inviting you to savor its rich heritage.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
