Moric Blaufränkisch

2005 Burgenland Blaufränkisch

The Moric New Vine Direct Moric Blaufränkisch from the 2005 vintage showcases the remarkable qualities of Burgenland's terroir. This lovely red wine presents a deep ruby hue, capturing the essence of its varietal. On the palate, it exhibits a medium body with vibrant acidity that elevates its profile, resulting in a mouthwatering experience. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing layers of dark cherries and plums, intertwined with hints of spice and earthiness. Tannins are well integrated, offering a firm structure without overwhelming the delicate fruit. With its finely tuned balance, this Blaufränkisch is a versatile choice that pairs beautifully with a range of dishes while also being enjoyable on its own, displaying the legacy of its origin with every sip.

Austria may not be the first country that springs to mind when you think of quality wine, but this slice of central Europe is home to crisp whites and elegant reds that are well worth seeking out. While many classic grapes are grown here, there are exceptional wines made from varieties you rarely see anywhere else, such as white Grüner Veltliner. Spicy and herbaceous, this wine combines notes of white pepper and asparagus with flint and apple. As for reds, the most planted is Zweigelt. This grape is a hybrid of two other local varietals: the spicy Blaufränkisch and light St. Laurent. It combines the best of both worlds with flavors of chocolate, black pepper and fresh raspberry.
