Miraglio

2009 Salento Negroamaro

The Tenute Rubino Miraglio from the Salento region is a stunning expression of the Negroamaro varietal, showcasing a deep red hue that captivates the eye. This wine exhibits a full-bodied character, offering a rich texture that envelops the palate. Its acidity is vibrant and mouthwatering, providing a refreshing counterbalance to the wine's prominent fruit intensity, where notes of dark berries and ripe cherries reign supreme. The tannins are notable yet beautifully integrated, contributing to a smooth finish that lingers with a touch of herbaceous undertones. As a dry wine, it is both approachable and sophisticated, making it an excellent choice for pairing with a variety of hearty dishes. This vintage from 2009 stands out as a testament to the exceptional terroir of Salento, inviting enthusiasts to savor its complexity and depth.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
