Malvasia Bianca

2008 Salento Malvasia Bianca

The Donna Marzia Malvasia Bianca from the Salento region is an exquisite white wine that showcases the true essence of this varietal. With its captivating golden hue, this vintage from 2008 presents a beautifully rich and full-bodied profile. The acidity is bright and lively, providing a refreshing contrast to the wine's luscious fruit intensity, which features prominent notes of stone fruits and floral undertones. The tannins are subtle and well-integrated, lending a delicate structure to the overall experience. As a dry wine, it leaves a crisp, clean finish that invites another sip, making it a delightful companion for a variety of food pairings or simply enjoyed on its own.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
