Lu Ceppu

2011 Salice Salentino Red Blend

Masca Del Tacco Lu Ceppu is an exquisite red blend from the renowned Salice Salentino region, celebrated for its rich, sun-kissed vineyards. This 2011 vintage pours a deep, inviting red, capturing the eye with its vibrancy. On the palate, it showcases a medium body, harmoniously balanced with bright acidity that enlivens each sip. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing layers of dark fruits such as blackberry and plum, beautifully complemented by subtle hints of spice and earth. Tannins are notable yet supple, providing a firm structure that allows for graceful aging or immediate enjoyment. This wine is an elegant expression of its terroir, making it a wonderful companion for hearty dishes or simply to savor on its own.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
