Limitone Dei Greci

2006 Salice Salentino Negroamaro (80%), Malvasia (20%)

Cantine Paolo Leo Limitone Dei Greci is a captivating red wine that showcases the rich heritage of the Salice Salentino region, masterfully crafted from eighty percent Negroamaro and twenty percent Malvasia. This vintage from 2006 reveals a deep crimson hue, enticing with its inviting aromas of dark fruits such as black cherry and plum, interwoven with subtle notes of dried herbs and a touch of earthiness. On the palate, it boasts a full-bodied profile, harmoniously balanced with bright acidity that enlivens the taste experience. The tannins are notable yet refined, providing structure without overwhelming the wine's delicate fruit expression. As a dry red, it is inherently versatile, making it an excellent choice for pairing with hearty dishes or simply enjoying on its own. This delightful offering truly embodies the essence of its terroir, providing a wine that is both complex and approachable.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
