Liala

2022 Salento Negroamaro

The Masseria Borgo Dei Trulli Liala is a vibrant red wine hailing from the Salento region. Crafted with the indigenous Negroamaro grape variety, this wine showcases a medium-full body that envelops the palate with velvety richness. Its acidity is moderate, offering a perfect balance that uplifts the prominent fruity flavors without overpowering them. The fruit intensity is notable, with ripe dark fruit notes dancing alongside subtle earthy undertones. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing structure and depth to the overall profile. The 2022 vintage adds freshness and liveliness to this beautiful expression of Salento terroir.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
