Late Harvest Riesling

2008 Columbia Valley Riesling

Dunham Cellars Late Harvest Riesling from the Columbia Valley is a delightful white wine that captures the essence of late harvest perfection. This vintage showcases a luscious profile with a full body that envelops the palate, complemented by high acidity that brings a refreshing brightness, making it exceptionally mouthwatering. The fruit intensity is prominent, with vibrant notes of apricot, honey, and ripe peach that dance harmoniously together. This wine is elegantly sweet, reflecting its late harvest origins while remaining well-balanced and not cloying. The experience is further enriched by a gentle minerality that adds depth, making it a wonderful pairing for a variety of desserts or a lovely companion enjoyed on its own.

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.
