Tasting notes:

The 2017 Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon has expressive and pronounced aromatics of cassis and blackcurrant. Elegant, round, and persistent tannins are accompanied by fresh cherry and a light toast on the palate.

Region:

Apalta
Apalta

While it doesn't have the dramatic Andean scenery of other Chilean wine regions, Apalta's hot scrubby hills produce some seriously full-flavored red wines. These French-influenced Syrah and Carménère are becoming highly sought-after wines. Chile is famous for using Carménère as a single varietal, and in Apalta this lesser-known grape comes into its own. Subtle floral notes and refreshing acidity complement the typical flavors of black plum, raspberry and paprika. The Bordeaux-style blends are worth discovering, too, with classic notes of blackcurrant, mint and clove. It is easy to see why some of Chile's most famous wine producers have based themselves in Apalta.
