L'insolito

2012 Puglia Minutolo

Michele Biancardi L'insolito is a delightful white wine from the Puglia region, showcasing the unique Minutolo varietal that perfectly embodies the essence of southern Italy. With its radiant golden hue, this vintage 2012 wine offers an aromatic bouquet of tropical fruits, delicate florals, and subtle citrus notes that harmoniously come together on the nose. On the palate, L'insolito displays a medium-bodied character, balanced by refreshing acidity that lends vibrancy and a sense of liveliness to each sip. The fruit intensity is notably prominent, allowing the luscious stone fruit and honeyed undertones to shine brilliantly, making it an exceptionally enjoyable choice. Its off-dry finish adds a touch of sweetness, inviting you to savor its complexity and elegance, truly capturing the spirit of Puglia's sun-kissed terroir.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
