Kimia

2012 Puglia Fiano

The Tenute Chiaromonte Kimia is a delightful Fiano from the enchanting Puglia region, exemplifying the best of Italian white wines. This vintage is truly a treat for the senses, showcasing a body that is light enough to be refreshing yet has enough substance to offer depth. The acidity is bright and lively, invigorating the palate and enhancing its charm. With a fruit intensity that is prominent, you can expect a vibrant bouquet of stone fruit flavors, perfectly balanced with floral notes. The wine is bone-dry, ensuring that it remains crisp and clean with each sip, making it an ideal choice for picnics or enjoying alongside seafood dishes. Its finish is elegant and lingering, a testament to the quality that Puglia has to offer.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
