Kabinett

2008 Rheingau Riesling

The Schloss Vollrads Kabinett 2008 is a delightful white wine from the esteemed Rheingau region, known for its exceptional Rieslings. This Kabinett exhibits a light body that makes it refreshing and easy to enjoy. The acidity is bright and lively, providing a crisp backbone that complements the delicious fruit-forward profile. Aromas of ripe peach, juicy apricot, and a hint of citrus dance from the glass, leading to a palate that is both vibrant and enticing. The fruit intensity is prominent, showcasing the grape's characteristic charm, while the sweetness is well-balanced, ensuring the wine is off-dry rather than cloying. This sophisticated wine exemplifies the essence of fine German Riesling, making it a perfect choice for various occasions.

Region:

Rheingau

Germany's most famous wine region, the small but mighty Rheingau has built its stellar reputation on its delightfully dry Riesling. Thanks to the south-facing aspect of the Rhine Valley's slopes here—plus the shelter provided by the Taunus hills—the Rheingau's vineyards enjoy a unique mesoclimate that helps grapes ripen perfectly. As a result, these medium- to full-bodied white wines often display satisfying flavors of ripe peach. Fans of red wine should also look out for its Pinot Noir (known locally as Spätburgunder), which usually comes from vineyards near the village of Assmannhausen.
