Johe

Puglia Red Blend

The Tenuta Viglione Johe is a captivating red blend hailing from the sun-kissed region of Puglia, Italy. This wine presents a deep, enticing red hue that immediately draws you in. On the palate, it showcases a full-bodied character that harmoniously balances vibrant acidity, giving it a lively and refreshing edge. The richness of dark fruit flavors, such as ripe blackberry and plum, emerges prominently, enhanced by subtle hints of spice and earthiness. Tannins are soft yet integrated, offering a structured experience without overwhelming the senses. A touch of dryness rounds out the flavor profile, making this wine incredibly versatile and food-friendly, ideal for pairing with hearty pasta dishes or grilled meats.

Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
